Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Toasty aromas of cherries, plum, bacon, sage and vanilla will embrace your senses. This whelming nose leads to a palate of dark fruit, cherry, fig, blackberry, and creamy vanilla with a full, rich, long and heady finish. Although tasting robust and very well now, this exceptional wine will age gracefully for 5-15 years. Pair this exquisite wine with a leg of lamb stuffed with a fist full of figs, thyme, rosemary and even a little blue cheese if you like.
Vineyard Notes
With warmer-than-average spring temperatures, 2013 on the Golden Mile Bench saw an early bud break. These above-average temperatures continued throughout the summer; however, temperatures returned to normal in the Fall, allowing for full maturation in the Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals that make up our premium Bordeaux blend.
Winemaker Notes
Led by winemaker Rob Summers, the cellar team continues to achieve greatness with this iconic B.C. red, now in its seventh vintage. Each of the three varietals — Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon — were macerated and fermented separately in Italian Ganimede fermenters. Malolactic fermentation finished in the tanks before each varietal was oak-aged separately. After 14 months, the best lots were chosen, blended, and returned to oak for an additional 12 months, allowing the components to marry for a full-bodied, harmonious blend.
